THIS STUDY FOR ASCVD
A phase III study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of investigational medicines compared with placebo in participants with type 2 diabetes, hypertension and established cardiovascular disease

Study Location(s): Bowling Green, KY
When you’re in good health, blood vessels are free of restrictions and allow blood pumped from the heart to travel everywhere in your body. But Impaired blood flow can lead to complications. In the case of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD), blood vessels stiffen and become narrow due to fatty plaque build-up. This lack of blood-flow can leave your heart without enough oxygen, causing coronary heart disease.
People with diabetes are twice as likely to develop heart disease (source: American Diabetes Association). Hypertension and diabetes are both aspects of metabolic syndrome and often occur together. Possible reasons for this may be that they have similar risk factors, or that high blood sugar levels damage cells in the cardiovascular system. The combined impact of diabetes and high blood pressure can increase the risk of cardiovascular disease (source: Medical News Today). Despite recent advances in the management of type 2 diabetes (T2DM), there is still an unmet need for effective therapies especially for T2DM patients with hypertension and established cardiovascular disease.
The purpose of this study is to provide substantial evidence of the efficacy and safety of the combination of investigational medicines compared with placebo and investigational medicine on top of standard of care in prevention of heart failure in participants with type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and established cardiovascular disease.
There is no cost to participate. Volunteers receive no cost investigational medicine and no cost health exams. No insurance needed. Time and travel compensation is TBD.
