ABOUT THIS CLINICAL TRIAL FOR WEIGHT MANAGEMENT IN ADULTS

A phase III randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled multicentre trial to evaluate the efficacy and safety of an investigational medicine in participants with obesity or overweight with at least one weight-related comorbidity without Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

Clinical Trial for Diabetes in Adults with CV Risk

Study Location(s): Owensboro, KY

A person whose weight is higher than what is considered to be a normal weight for a given height is described as being overweight or having obesity. (source: CDC)

Overweight is a condition of excessive fat deposits.

Obesity is classified by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a chronic, relapsing disease arising from complex interactions between genetics, neurobiology, eating behaviors, access to healthy diet, market forces, and the broader environment.

Now considered a global public health crisis, more than 1 billion people are living with obesity and prevalence rising in nearly every country.

Weight loss has been associated with improvements in comorbidities, however, achieving and maintaining weight loss through lifestyle interventions alone is difficult. (Source: WHO)

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy, safety and tolerability of an investigational medicine versus placebo (administered once weekly), for body weight management in participants aged ≥ 18 years with obesity or overweight with related comorbidities without T2DM.

Potential patients must have a BMI ≥ 30 kg/m2 or BMI ≥ 27 kg/m2 with at least one weight-related comorbidities, stable body weight (≤ 5% body weight change) for at least 3 months prior to randomization and have a history of at least one self-reported unsuccessful attempt to lose body weight in their lifetime.

There is no cost to participate.  Volunteers receive no cost investigational medicine and no cost health exams.  No insurance needed.  Reimbursement for time and travel up is TBD.
