Clinical Trial for Migraine in Children

Clinical Trial for Migraines in Children

Study Location(s): Owensboro and Bowling Green Kentucky, Evansville Indiana

Migraine is one of the most common neurological conditions in pediatrics with a prevalence of approximately 8% in children under 20 years of age.  Migraine occurs more frequently in adolescents compared with the younger pediatric age groups.  There is a significant increase in migraine incidence in females after puberty. In children and adolescents, headache and migraine can result in missed school days, poorer academic performance and a negative impact on quality of life.  There are few treatments approved for the acute treatment of migraine in adolescents, and only 1 treatment approved for children aged 6 to 11 years. Thus, there remains a significant unmet need for the acute treatment of migraine in children and adolescents.  This is a double-blind, placebo-controlled, phase 3 study of an investigational medicine for acute migraine in children ages 6 – 17.  Patient volunteers will have an option to enter a 52 week long-term open-label extension study.  Click here for more information on living with pediatric migraine.

There is no cost to participate.  Volunteers receive free investigational medicine and follow-up care.  No insurance needed.  Time and travel compensation up to $550 may be available.
