THIS STUDY FOR OSTEOARTHRITIS AND WEIGHT LOSS IN ADULTS
A phase 3 randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study to investigate the efficacy and safety of once weekly investigational medicine in adult participants with osteoarthritis knee pain, and obesity or overweight
Study Location(s): Evansville, IN
Osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis, affecting millions of people worldwide. It happens when the protective cartilage that cushions the ends of the bones wears down over time.
Although osteoarthritis can damage any joint, the condition most commonly affects joints in the hands, knees, hips and spine.
Osteoarthritis symptoms can usually be managed, although the damage to joints can’t be reversed. Staying active, maintaining a healthy weight and receiving certain treatments might slow progression of the disease and help improve pain and joint function.
Carrying extra body weight contributes to osteoarthritis in several ways. The more you weigh, the greater your risk. Increased weight adds stress to weight-bearing joints, such as the hips and knees. Also, fat tissue produces proteins that can cause harmful swelling in and around your joints.
This study is for adults 18+ years old that have obesity or over weight without t2 diabetes, who have been diagnosed with osteoarthritis pain of the knee.
There is no cost to participate. Volunteers receive no cost investigational medicine and no cost health exams. No insurance needed. Reimbursement for time and travel is TBD.
